Picture this .. you’re stood in the very long queue of your local Ikea and you look at all the other long queue’s of people and realise that at least half a dozen of them are dragging trollies full of the same stuff you’re also buying! The same white flat pack chest or drawers or tv unit maybe?

How does it make you feel? Knowing that in a few years time, it’ll end up in land fill somewhere, as too many screws have fallen out to hold it together any longer .. Now flat pack has its place, don’t get me wrong- especially for kiddies bedrooms because it’s cheap and cheerful but it won’t ever stand the test of longevity, and it’ll never make your home look unique, or individual. On that we can agree?

When you buy vintage and antique items, you are guaranteed that you’ll rarely, if ever go to somebody’s house and say .. “I’ve got that too!” Nope, you will secure yourself the ‘WOW’ factor with lovingly chosen pieces of long lasting furniture, that will give years of use and pleasure and individuality in what ever style, or era you so choose, be it mid century modern, or art deco, the list is endless …

You’re also saving on the waste that is so easily discarded around the planet. You’re upping your green credentials – give that person a Blue Peter badge!! Saving the planet isn’t all about eating Mung beans, wearing pleather and saving the whale you know! No! Modern ways include recycling somebody else’s no longer needed but beloved items, and taking them into the bosom of your heart to cherish in the future .. One man’s tat really is another man’s, or woman’s treasure! Trust me on that… Oh, and the lovely green paperweight used in the blog post for illustration purposes, is for sale in my store .. it’s huge and green and gorgeous, take a look. And whilst your at it, take a look at my Ebay store! Link here .. I’m adding stuff as quickly as my little hands can type honest!
